The Ultimate Gay Travel Guide
The Gay Passport is your complete Gay Travel Guide. Looking to Drink, Play or Sleep we have reviews to help. Award-winning & Updated 2023.
If you are looking to party hard in Phuket and visit the gay bars on the island then we recommend staying in Patong. You will be close to the action at night, but Patong Beach is also amongst the most crowded in the island. If you are looking for a more relaxed vacation take a look at resorts on the surrounding beaches on the island.
For a mix, Kata beach is close enough to allow you to enjoy Phuket’s more luxurious side during the day, while still being close enough to indulge in excesses of the nightlife.
Phuket is one the most visited islands in the world and is very gay-friendly for tourists. Almost all hotels in Thailand and Phuket can be described as gay-friendly. It would be highly uncommon for a hotel or guesthouse to make any an issue of a gay couple checking in.
Hotels will often ask for the occupancy of the room. If travelers try to bring extra guests into their room late at night, the front desk will often ask for ID from the extra guest. This happens to both male and female extra guests and is for the safety of both parties.
If you want to party in Phuket, staying near to Patong Beach is the place to be. None of the other resort towns on the island come close to the loud, intense, dizzying party vibe of Patong. Patong has a good selection of accommodation to suit all budgets. To be at the heart of the gay Phuket nightlife, you can either stay in a hotel around the Paradise Complex center of gay town (walking distance) or in Patong Town (taxi distance).
Unfortunately, this also means that Patong can be a loud, intense, and dizzying place to stay, which is not ideal for everyone. Fortunately, there are many quiet beaches spread across the island where you get your relax on.
