Andee and Hugo’s Best Thai Hotels

Andee and Hugo are regular visitors to Thailand, and it’s easy to why, when they spend time in hotels like these.

We asked Andee to share his favorite hotels in Thailand. But we made it tricky and ask for just one hotel in each destination – BangkokPhuketKoh Samui, and Pattaya.

How many times have you been to Thailand?

It is really hard to keep up because we frequent Thailand so much. Pre-pandemic, we travelled to Thailand almost 3 to 4 times in a year. And we just realised that since the borders have opened, we will have travelled to Thailand 3 times this year within a span of 6 months. This is how much we love Thailand – it is almost our second home.

Why do you keep going back?

We love the people, the food, and just how welcoming and inclusive we feel every time we are in Thailand. There’s a wide variety to what Thailand has to offer. It could be the tranquil beaches, exotic cuisine, amazing parties, magnificent temples and scenery, colourful history, or cultural and archaeological sites.

There is so much to appreciate and savour here that is unique and different – as long as you are willing to explore.

Another main reason is the friends we’ve made through our Thailand trips. We’ve built some really close friendships we cherish so it is always nice to catchup with our friends while we are there.

Fun fact: We’ve also recently picked up Thai language. I can now successfully order food and coffee in Thai and it feels really close to heart.

Why do you think Thailand is so popular for gay travelers?

Thailand is not only deem as an inclusive nation for LGBTQ+ folks, they literally walk the walk here. While there are many roads to pave when it comes to transgender rights in Thailand, the community as a whole is widely accepted and in some ways celebrated. The popular opinion of trans people is extremely favourable and trans individuals are well represented in pop culture and Thai television.

As a gay man, we can live our best true selves unapologetically when we are in Bangkok (or other parts of Thailand). I have been to quite a few countries in Asia, and in no other have I seen homosexuals live their sexual orientation so openly. It is almost like you don’t have to prove yourself being gay. It is truly liberating!

What did you love about the hotel?

I’m a big lover of this hotel’s design – it’s thoughtful and perfect for taking lots of amazing pictures. The Speakeasy Bar and dinner we had at the basement restaurant was incredible. Plus, there is a massage parlor just beside the hotel that provides really great quality and affordable massage, it’s definitely a big bonus.

As gay travelers how did you feel?

Love the fact that they were inclusive and embraced diversity by the people they hired for their front-line. That goes to show a lot about the company, even as a big hotel group. They made us feel so comfortable and always welcomed us so warmly. Kudos to the service standard!

How did this hotel make you feel?

This hotel screams everything about LUXURY and RELAX. Situated high up above the hills, you’ll get a really nice undisturbed and peaceful view of the Bang Tao Beach/Laguna area.

I got to stay in one of the Ocean View Pool Villa – which is literally heaven! It is super peaceful and relaxing, and has a nice vast view of the sea. The floating breakfast option I got one of the mornings just made the stay so much more interesting.

Love the hospitality from the staff. They were quick in their response and had great buggy services to bring you around the resort.

The facilities were great too. Had an amazing massage at The Pavilions Spa and definitely love gymming in the middle of the woods. They have a shuttle bus service that brings you to and fro the beach and the shopping district too. I had the chance to explore the Bang Tao area and found some great food and coffee.

Super amazing 3D2N stay with the hotel.

Why did you pick this resort?

The hotel’s view is really awesome! I’m almost speechless when I first saw it. The rooms offer plenty of privacy which made us feel so disconnected from the world (is there any better excuse to relax).

I love everything about the room and the service was on point. They were quick to react, accommodating, and had a great level of service. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay at Conrad.

As a gay couple, they couldn’t have made us feel more at home. With all the love and kindness.

What did you think of this hotel?

We loved our stay in Hilton Pattaya as it is really a relaxing trip. Their spa was amazing, loved the super huge infinity pool overseeing the sea, and the dinner we had at Horizon (34th story) was superb. Good way to relax and recharge.

As gay travelers what did you think?

The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s great for pictures as it has a sea view. The room is pretty chic too with an outdoor bathtub on the balcony! That’s pretty sexy!
