Best Gay Hotels in Pattaya

As the closest beach resort town to Bangkok, Pattaya has one of Thailand’s liveliest gay scenes, as well as some of its most notorious nightlife. Most of the gay bars and clubs are concentrated in two areas of central Pattaya near the beach, BoyzTown and Sunee Plaza. However, there is a third gay hub in the area: Dongtan beach in Jomtien, a little bit south of Pattaya.

The city has for a long time been infamous for its seedy sex industry. This bad reputation is dissipating as the sex trade becomes regulated and a more relaxed, family-friendly vibe settles in through the area. That said, central Pattaya is still a loud, hedonistic party town, and there is still very much a seedy underbelly to it all.

This is why many visitors prefer to stay in Jomtien. This gives them easy access to the fun gay beach life (and after all, that’s what you’re looking for when you head to the Thai coast) while also having the option to hop on a taxi and go out in Pattaya.

However, the party scene in Pattaya is undoubtedly fun, and many people just want to stay at the heart of it all. Ultimately, it’s down to what you like: stay in Pattaya if you enjoy a more hardcore party vibe, or head to Jomtien if spending the day on a gay beach is more your thing.

Pattaya is a very popular gay destination, so there is no such thing as non-gay-friendly accommodation. Every hotel in the area will be used to receiving gay guests, and it is unheard of for gay travelers to have issues.

There are a few hotels and resorts which are particularly popular with gay visitors, especially ones close to Dongan Beach such as Rabbit Resort, Zing Resort and Spa, and Welcome World Beach Resort and Spa. There are also a few gay-only and gay-owned hotels in the area, such as Baan Souy Resort, COPA Gay Hotel, and Poseidon Boutique Hotel.

♥ Perfect location right on Pattaya Beach
♥ Awesome rooftop bar
♥ Lovely pool and gym area overlooking the ocean

Hilton Hotel Pattaya is a large resort-style hotel just next to the main Pattaya beach. It’s top-class luxury accommodation, just a stone’s throw away from everything Pattaya has to offer. Plus, you can also count on the classic Hilton quality of service.

All the guest rooms are spacious and pleasant, with floor-to-ceiling windows and neutral decor. They all come with separate rain shower and freestanding bathtub as well as a private balcony. If you have the budget, go for a deluxe or executive room (or a suite) for huge wall-to-wall windows for unobstructed sea views.

The infinity pool sits on a terraced deck directly overlooking the sea so that the blue of pool tiles almost blend in with the blue of the ocean. On the same level, there is a large and very well-equipped gym. This also has great views of the sea through a fully windowed wall, which makes for an invigorating workout.

Hilton Hotel Pattaya has three restaurants, each with a distinct vibe. The beach-facing terrace is a particularly pleasant place to start your day, while the intimate vibe of Flare restaurant makes for a romantic dinner spot. When evening comes, head to the swanky rooftop bar to start your night with a birdseye view of the bay as the bustle of Pattaya nights starts to form.

The location is one of the best in town, directly overlooking the Pattaya beachfront. From here, all of Pattaya’s nightlife is easily accessible, with BoyzTown a 15-minute walk away and Sunee Plaza about 25 minutes. It’s about a half-hour drive to Dongtan beach, so you can easily go spent the day in Jomtien.

Why we love it

♥ A bit removed from the chaos of Pattaya, but close enough to join in
♥ Stylish rooms in either contemporary or traditional style
♥ Excellent Spa with authentic Thai treatments

Pullman Pattaya Hotel G is a cool and contemporary resort just outside of Central Pattaya, offering Pullman’s usual blend of trendy decor and top-class facilities. With direct beach access and a blend of modern and traditional elements, it’s got everything you could want for a relaxing Thai beach stay.

Rooms come in one of two design motifs, each in a different building. One is modern and minimalist, with pure white decor offset by touches of bright color, while the other offers a more traditionally Thai colonial design. Both come with excellent amenities and a private balcony for each room. The modern loft suite is perfect for couples, with a huge freestanding jacuzzi bath in the middle of the room and a romantic unobstructed view of the sea.

There is a small but pleasant gym, and the hotel also offers yoga and Muay Thai classes. The Spa is the perfect place to immerse yourself in traditional Thai wellness, with nature-based ingredients and a range of classic treatments. The pool deck is large, with plenty of sun loungers and seating space to go around.

Both the Beach Club Restaurant and Beach Club Bar are stylish and scenic, and the executive Sunset Lounge is worth the extra investment in a club room. This comes with a daily private breakfast, sunset cocktails every night, and welcome treats upon arrival.

Pullman Pattaya Hotel G is located north of the main Pattaya beach and nightlife area. This is a quieter and more laid-back part of Pattaya, which doesn’t get the noise and bustle that hotels in the center might have.

♥ Ideal beach getaway, with the option of driving out to Dongtan Beach or Pattaya
♥ Stunning mountain or sea views from every single room
♥ Two awesome outdoor pools, plus beach access

Many Thai resorts can boast of beachfront access and spectacular views, but not all of them take proper advantage of these features. With design that highlights the scenery and expansive grounds of natural beauty, Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa achieves this.

The decor at Marriott Rayong is understated, allowing the beautiful surroundings to do the talking. You can tell that real care has gone into the design and layout to make the most of the incredible mountain and sea views in every room, and this makes them feel incredibly pleasant and refreshing.

The resort has two adult outdoor pools, including a jaw-dropping Island View pool from which you can watch the sunrise and sunset. However, it’s the huge lagoon-style swimming pool complete with slides, tropical aquarium, and plenty of private sun lounger space that really makes this hotel stand out. You also get direct beachfront access to Wang Kaew Beach, in case you prefer sunning in the sand.

The hotel’s main all-day restaurant has a great position overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, so you can start your day with a tasty breakfast and a world-class view. The Fish Bar serves fresh authentic Thai seafood dishes, while the cafe and pool bar keep the refreshments coming throughout the day.

Mariott Rayong is located about an hour and a half’s drive away from Pattaya. This hotel is a great choice if you want a Thai beach holiday without going too far from Bangkok, and are interested in checking out Dongtan beach for a day trip. As long as you’re ok with skipping Central Pattaya nightlife (or are happy to pay for a long taxi), Marriott Rayong makes for an exceptional stay.

Why we love it

♥ Home to Pattaya’s only gay sauna
♥ Convenient location for both Jomtien and Central Pattaya
♥ Several room options, most with free breakfast and sauna access

This gay Pattaya hotel is home to Sansuk Sauna, the only gay sauna in Pattaya. It has all the usual facilities, with a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, darkroom, and private cabins. There are also dedicated massage rooms, in which you can purchase special services. Of course, this makes Sansuk Guesthouse by far the most convenient accommodation choice if you’re looking to do some cruising in Pattaya.

The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Make sure you get one that includes free breakfast and access to the sauna (most of them do). The Garden Room, with its own patio garden, is a particularly nice option, and the two-bedroom suite is a good choice for four people to share.

Sansuk Guesthouse is located a little bit far from both Pattaya and Jomtien, although the advantage is that it sits more or less in between them. It’s a 10 to 15-minute drive to either Dongtan Beach or BoyzTown in Central Pattaya, which makes this a good location if you can’t choose between both.

Why we love it

♥ Gay hotel in Jomtien, with gay-focused service
♥ Spacious studios and apartments
♥ Convenient tuk-tuk shuttle service to gay Pattaya hotspots

Baan Souy is one of the few gay hotels in Pattaya, although it is straight-friendly. The resort offers everything you could need for a comfortable stay, in elegant surroundings inspired by traditional Thai aesthetics.

One of the biggest benefits of staying here is that your experience is fully tailored to gay travelers. The staff are knowledgeable about Pattaya’s gay scene, and are always happy to give advice and recommendations. Meanwhile, a super-convenient (and reasonably priced) tuk-tuk service to Dong Tan beach or Boyztown in Pattaya means that you will end up saving on taxis during your stay.

Accommodation is either studio or apartment-style, so you always get your own kitchenette and separate living area. All the rooms have either a private balcony, poolside access, or in the case of the Penthouse Apartment, exclusive direct access to the guest Roof Terrace.

The hotel offers great facilities, especially for a two-star. The central swimming pool is a great social hub for meeting your fellow gay guests, as are the restaurant and lobby bar. There is a small but well-equipped gym with dedicated staff, and you can even hire a personal trainer or book a Thai massage.

Why we love it

♥ Stylish and unique pool area with sea view
♥ Great selection of rooms and villas with cool design and super comfy beds
♥ Away from the bustle of Central Pattaya

Veranda Resort Pattaya is a modern 5-star resort on the Jomtien coast, a bit further south than Dongtan beach. It’s a 20-minute taxi away from the gay beach or, if you’re up for it, an hour-and-a-half walk along the coast. Central Pattaya is even further, about a 45-minute drive. This is a great resort if you are looking to see a more relaxing side of Pattaya, and aren’t that interested in the party scene in town.

The hotel has a striking minimalist style, with squared shapes and pale tones of white dominating the design. In the rooms, a color scheme of blue and white matches the beach views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The furniture is quirky and modern, and the King-sized beds absolutely heavenly. We recommend going for one of the rooms with the large in-room freestanding bathtub.

Or, even better, book one of the private villas with pool access – the 3-bedroom pool villa can sleep up to six people, making it great for large groups. These residences come with your own basic kitchen, which is perfect for a longer stay. If you don’t have your own kitchen, don’t worry – you will still be very well catered for at the beachfront terrace restaurant.

Perhaps the best thing about Veranda Resort is the Sea View Pool, a truly unique concept that stretches out across a flat surface with shallow water before gradually stepping down into a swimming pool. There are plenty of great lounging options, from stylish Balinese beds to oversized sofas on the water.

Why we love it

♥ Very gay-friendly and in the middle of Jomtien gay nightlife
♥ Good value for money, especially in the higher room categories
♥ Exceptional restaurant with dedicated Wine Cellar

Poseidon Boutique Hotel is a gay-friendly hotel in Jomtien, about a 15-minute walk from the gay beach. It’s right next door to a grouping of popular gay venues including 4-T Bar, Cocka2 Bar, and 2C Bar, which means the Jomtien gay nightlife is literally on your doorstep.

The hotel rooms are furnished in a simple and tasteful style, with super comfortable beds and good amenities. The VIP Studio comes with a whirlpool bathtub, which is the perfect way to end a long day at the beach (or soak away a hangover). The suites are particularly luxurious and offer great value for money, with the Master suite being ideally suited to two couples.

The restaurant at Poseidon Hotel is excellent, with food far beyond the usual hotel fare. Breakfast is a la carte and very good quality. Once a month, the chef hosts exclusive tasting menus, always for under 1000 TBH. The hotel bar is exceptional in that it is a Wine Cellar with a vast selection of international wines, ideal if you struggle to find your favorite variety in Thailand.

There is no outdoor pool, but the intimate indoor pool is a pleasant and relaxing space. It also comes with a poolside bar that serves a good selection of exotic cocktails.
