Why We Love It

♥ Beachfront resort
♥ Private pool villas & suites
♥ 50-meter swimming pool
♥ Oceanfront dining

Location

Chaweng Beach is the party center of Koh Samui. For gay travelers seeking something more peaceful, Mae Nam Beach on the very north of the island is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Koh Samui is a reasonably small island, and the airport is only a 15-minute drive away. Not that you’d need to leave the resort, as it has everything. However, if you wanted to visit some beachfront shops and cafes at Mae Nam Central, it’s only a leisurely 20-minute walk away.

Style & Design

The resort covers 23 acres where you’ll be surrounded by tropical foliage, shady trees, and lotus ponds. The resort’s architecture was inspired by the summer palace of King Rama IV. Look for graceful rooflines, intricate woodwork, and open-air pavilions. The interiors contain fine woods, jewel-toned silks, exotic floral arrangements, decorative art objects, and softly glowing lamps. The idea here is to avoid the impersonal feel of many chain resorts and offer its guests a unique sense of place and cultural authenticity.

Facilities

One of the benefits of staying in a resort like this in such a location is that everything you’d need is at the hotel. Santiburi Koh Samui Resort has its own private stretch of beach called Half Moon Bay. There you’ll find sun lounges and butlers to take care of your every need. Gay guys looking to keep fit and active will love the 50-meter swimming pool, ideal for laps. There’s a 1.2 km running track through the grounds and a state-of-the-art sports center. Tennis, golf, cycling, and a host of water sports are also available. Hungry? Your resort has that covered in spades. Start your day at Vimarnmek, where an International and Asian buffet awaits. While you’re lounging by the pool, The Pool House has an array of snacks, tapas, sandwiches, and light meals accompanied by cocktails. Sala Thai is a fine-dining restaurant with locations across Thailand, including one at Santiburi Koh Samui—this is Thai food at its most elevated level. If you’d prefer something a little more casual, the oceanfront Beach House is for you. For an afternoon pick-me-up, be that a coffee, tea, or cocktail, head into The Lounge, which opens at 3 pm. Ready for some pampering? Whether you’re looking for relaxation, rejuvenation, or a deeper connection with yourself, Santiburi Koh Samui’s spa has every treatment you’d want. Massages, facials, body, and nail care, and exclusive Thai treatments like hot stones, heated bamboo sticks, and herbal steams.

Rooms

Despite being on 23 acres, there are only 96 luxurious suites & villas, meaning that there’s plenty of space for everyone. Each room is cleverly spaced, allowing for the maximum amount of privacy between them. The Duplex Suite has a bedroom downstairs with the living areas upstairs, and a private balcony with resort views. The range of villas includes garden, pool, and beachfront. Choose from al-fresco dining facilities, a jacuzzi, or go beachfront with a plunge pool. Go big or go home, the Grand Reserve Villa is considered a resort within a resort. It’s 250 square meters of luxury, including floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the garden, private deck, and plunge pool. The rooms are stylish, modern in design, with plush finishes, and with an open-plan theme.
