Drink.
Gay Koh Samui does not have the sort of nightlife you can expect from Bangkok or Phuket, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. There are a number of smaller gay bars and fun cabarets, as well as a wealth of gay-friendly high-end bars and a couple of mixed nightclubs. There are no Gay go-go bars on Koh Samui.
If you are looking to explore Gay Samui nightlife then check out Gay Point Bar, Pride Bar Samui, and K Club. The island has no gay nightclubs but there are a couple of mixed clubs. The most club popular with gay locals is Sweet Soul Nightclub, but you can also check out Sound Club and The Green Mango Club.
Most of Koh Samui’s gay nightlife is concentrated in the resort town of Chaweng.
Beer is big in Thailand. The biggest local brands are Chang, Leo, and Sighna. Red Bull’s roots are also in Thailand but note the original/local version is not carbonated (no fizz or bubbles).
For something stronger, the Thai classic has to be SangSom. Confusingly it’s often sold as “Thai whiskey” but is actually rum, distilled from sugarcane. SangSom is also the main component of Thailand’s notorious “buckets of alcohol.”
Pride Bar Samui, Koh Samui’s laid-back and lovely vibe gay bar. It’s conveniently located in the heart of Chaweng Beach, perfect for Grindr dates and chilled drinks. The bar offers a relaxed cozy and comfortable vibe with free WIFI and a pool table. Happy hours start at 5 pm until 8 pm every day with a wide collection of drinks included. The venue is well located at the back of Solo Bar and before Chaweng Stadium, perfect for bar hopping as it’s close to Green Mango and also Samui cabaret.
The venue is a well-decorated and cool place to hang out while you’re on the rock. Great atmosphere with a relaxed European style and conveniently located on a busy street for entertainment in Chaweng. The owners and staff are friendly and offer great chat.
Music: The bar opens with happy hour perfect for easy listening and not too loud for conversation. Later on, the pop & dance beats pick up.
Crowd: The crowd tends to be the mix between locals and international visitors, especially silver foxes & daddies. Pride Bar is a great place to have a chat and meet others in the paradise of Koh Samui. Ladies are welcome too.
Dress: Nightlife on Koh Samui is very casual and this is a beach bar style. So allow yourself to look comfy and trendy at the same time. Tank top and shorts are great and please note, most of the clubs on the island prefer proper shoes for your own safety.
