La Serena Villas is a boutique property on S Belardo Rd, only half a mile from the gay strip of Arenas Rd. It was opened in 1933 and then closed in 2002, but before the wrecking ball could strike, the community got together and had it preserved as a historical site.
Fully renovated in 2016, it has 18 guest villas, a rooftop bar, a small pool, and a spa. Every room is a villa; each has a private patio, and some have plunge pools.
The rooftop lounge opens at 5 pm every day and has a Boho meets cool Palm Springs vibe. The venue is Instaworthy from the lobby to the pool area, so don’t be surprised to bump into a celebrity or two.
