London Gay Saunas

London’s sauna scene is an exciting mix and stronger than that of most other cities. There’s still a strong mix of professional venues and smaller local options. If you’re short on time, start with central favourites like Sweatbox and Pleasuredrome, then explore smaller saunas if you want something more low-key.

  • Top pick: Sweatbox Sauna (Soho)
  • Also popular: Pleasuredrome
  • With pool facilities: Covent Garden Health Spa
  • Most venues are around: Central London & Soho

London gay saunas range from busy, central venues to smaller local saunas outside the core. Most first-time visitors choose a well-known option in Central London because it’s easy to reach, straightforward on entry, and close to the rest of the nightlife scene.

If you’re planning a sauna visit as part of a trip, staying in a gay-friendly hotel that’s well-connected to Central London makes the night simpler (and the journey home easier). See our best gay-friendly hotels in London

Tip: the best experience usually comes from choosing the venue that matches your vibe (busy vs. relaxed, premium vs. simple facilities), arriving at a peak time, and travelling light. Most venues provide lockers, so you can keep valuables secure and enjoy the facilities stress-free.

More

Yes, gay saunas in London are perfectly legal and safe. The biggest risk you run is pickpockets, so make sure you always leave your personal belongings in a secure place, like a locker.

In London, the busiest times are usually weekend afternoons and evenings (especially Saturday and Sunday). Some venues can also get busy on weekday evenings, but weekends are the most consistently high-traffic.

Most London gay saunas are not designed for overnight accommodation. However, some venues are open 24 hours and offer private cabins or rooms as part of the experience (for example, Sweatbox Sauna and Pleasuredrome). Rules vary by venue, so it’s best to check the individual venue page or confirm on arrival.

Vibes: London’s Busiest Gay Sauna

Oh, Sweatbox! It’s not just your typical London sauna, it’s like the Disneyland of gay saunas, only sweatier and with fewer children. They’ve got everything your gym-fearing heart might desire: a workout area for those who actually use it, countless free cabins to… relax in, a jacuzzi that can fit all your new best friends, and a steam maze that’s easier to get lost in than your ex’s Instagram.

They throw parties regularly, so it’s practically a cultural hub—definitely worth a visit if you can find your towel. And let’s talk deals: Mondays and Thursdays are like a youth fair with free entry for the under 25s. Feeling ancient or just over 25? It’s £24 for a day-long escape or £29 to extend your visit to 48 hours, because why not turn your sauna time into a mini-vacay?

Tucked away in the ever-subtle Soho, Sweatbox is perfectly positioned for those moments when you can’t decide if your night is ending or just getting a second wind. Really, it’s so convenient you might just trip over your own feet and land inside. Go on, drop in—it’s practically a cultural milestone. Who needs historical landmarks when you can have a steamy soirée?

Bit disapointed
It was large and busy but I found it hard to have much fun. You have to pay for the private cabins. Once you find somebody and start doing stuff, the crowd follows you to watch, not my vibe.

BAD ATTITUDE - Don't waste your money or time
This place used to be great, clean, fun and relaxed with a nice bar and good massage therapists. BUT recently ...I have never known such a great space RUINED by the MANAGER. Not only is he rude he is extremely unhelpful... you wait ages at reception on arrival and departure and he is as miserable as SIN. The place used to be packed on a Friday afternoon... but not anymore.......
