Kawayu Spa & Sauna is an outdoor gay-friendly hot spring for men on the outskirts of Taipei city. The all male hot spring offers a Japanese style onsen popular local men of all ages all going fully naked. While Kawayu Spa & Sauna is not an outright gay venue plenty of discrete gay action takes place within the sauna cabin which is often packed to bursting point. Crowd: While visitors are welcome the majority bathers are local men, with all ages being represented.
Entry: Costs 200 TWD (6 USD) but if you spend over 400 TWD in the restaurant you get free entry to the hot spring. Coin-operated lockers (20NT) are available for 20 TWD ($0.60 USD) however lockers can become full then sauna is busy.
Facilities: Restaurant, hot water pool, jacuzzi, spa and sauna, bathing area, and steam room with coin-operated lockers.
How to get there
Kawayu Spa & Sauna is located on the outside of the city in Beitou District.
Taxi: Ask the taxi drivers for No. 11, Ningxia Road, Kawayu Spa & Sauna is not far from Ningxia Night Market.
Metro + Taxi: To reach the sauna take the MRT to either Beitou or Xinbeitou Station and then taxi to the spa.
Metro + Bus: Take the MRT to Shipai Station (three stations before Beitou) and continue by bus (number 508, 535 or 536) from the bus stop A located in front of the China Trust Bank. It takes 11 bus-stops to reach “Shin Yi 3” which is 50 meters from the entrance to the hot springs.
