Flying Pigs Downtown Hostel Amsterdam

Flying Pig is a popular chain of hostels in Amsterdam, with this location being by far the most central. Flying Pig Downtown is a 5-minute walk away from Dam square and Amsterdam Centraal, and even closer to Damrak. It is just next to the red light district, making it one of the city’s best party hostels.

Various cruising bars are walking distance, including The Cuckoo’s Nest, The WEB, and Drake’s Cruising, as well as the city’s only gay sauna. For a more chilled-out vibe, two of Amsterdam’s gay bar institutions, The Queen’s Head and Café ’t Mandje, are both under 10 minutes away.

However, the party isn’t just about the surrounding area. This is very much that kind of hostel – the downstairs bar is a party hotspot in itself, with DJs spinning and parties every night. That said, the rooms are surprisingly quiet whenever you do decide to sleep, and the constant buzz means you’ll never struggle to make new friends for the night.

There are both dorm and private rooms available. There is a very good kitchen for those who like to prepare their own meals and a chilled-out “activity room” with Netflix for when you want to socialize but not necessarily drink at the bar.
