The gay nightlife in Long Beach has been going for over 40 years and shows no signs of slowing down. While most venues are on the ‘gay corridor’ of East Broadway, some can be found a few blocks further inland and some to the north.
Whatever you’re looking for in the form of entertainment can be found here, from drag brunches to go-go dancers and everything in between. Most venues are open daily, and 2 am is the standard closing time.
Visitors to North Long Beach gay bars can enjoy a night out in Falcon Long Beach’s sister bar, Falcon North, right on the East Artesian Boulevard. Home to bears and daddies and their friends, there are theme nights most nights, including karaoke on Thursdays and Sundays and RuPaul Drag Race viewing on Fridays.
Falcone North is open Thursday to Sunday, 7 pm to 2 am.
On the corner of Newport Avenue and the Pacific Coast Highway, the Executive Suite is a popular Long Beach gay, lesbian, and transgender bar. Split over two levels (3 if you count the rentable basement space), there is a bar, pool table, and karaoke on the main level; go up a level for drag shows, dancing, and go-go boys.
Open Wednesday to Saturday, 7 pm to 2 am, closed Mondays, and open some Sundays for special events.
Iconic Long Beach gay bar Falcon, right on East Broadway, is the place to go for a complete night out. Great music, sexy bar staff and dancers, and well-priced drinks are all found here. Theme nights most nights, including game night on Tuesdays, bingo on Wednesdays, and beer-bust Thursdays.
Falcon Long Beach has some of the most extended opening hours of any venue, 9 am to 2 am, 7 days a week.
US gay burger institution Hamburger Mary’s has a location in Long Beach on Pine Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. Hamburger Mary’s is legendary for serving up entertainment that’s equally as awesome as its burgers. Drag shows nightly, drag brunches on weekends, and Friday to Sunday nights are the 21+ party zone nights.
Closed Mondays, Hamburger Mary’s is open Tuesday to Thursday, 6 pm to 2 am and Fridays from 1 and weekends from 10 am.
On Redondo Avenue, near East 4th Street, is The Silver Fox, one of Long Beach’s longest-operating gay bars. For over 40 years, The Silver Fox has been a music video party bar and has one of the largest collections in California. Some of the hottest go-go boys in the country perform there every Sunday.
The Silver Fox is open weekdays from 4 pm to 2 am and on weekends from midday.
Gay travelers staying near North Beach can enjoy a night out at Flux Bar on Lakewood Boulevard. There are ever-changing daily specials; you can even sign up for its VIP customer rewards program.
Open every day from 2 pm to 2 am, Monday nights are all-night happy hours.
Right on the gay corridor of East Broadway is Sweetwater Saloon, a laid-back hangout. Known for its handsome bar staff with heavy pouring hands, it’s a popular place to start your night out.
Bar snacks are available. It’s open daily from 12 pm to 2 am.
On the corner of East Broadway and 2nd Street is Broadway Cocktails. For over 40 years, it’s been serving the gay community and has been voted the best karaoke bar in Long Beach. It’s a very laid-back vibe here, and visitors are most welcome.
Open daily from 10 am to 2 am, Happy hour runs until 8 pm, and karaoke is every Friday and Saturday night.
Right in the middle of the gay corridor on East Broadway is the leather and jeans bar Mineshaft. There are plenty of theme nights here, including disco vinyl, beach, and underwear parties. Drinks are cheap, and the staff are super friendly.
It’s open 7 days a week, 12 pm to 2 am, and is an attitude-free venue.
