Most Torremolinos Hotels follow the well-known blueprint for Spanish coastal resorts: big, blocky white buildings with outdoor pools, daytime activities, and nighttime entertainment. This means you have to look for the details that set certain hotels apart, like a great selection of pools, a fabulous beachside location, or adults-only access (this is, after all, a region popular with families with small children). There are options for every price range, and many resorts have all-inclusive packages. If you want something more authentic and low-key, Torremolinos also has its share of friendly family-run hotels.
The main gay area in Torremolinos is Plaza de la Nogalera in the town center – a tightly packed collection of gay bars, clubs, and cruise bars to rival any gayborhood in the world. However, during the day, you’ll find most of the gays at El Bajondillo beach, in particular the stretch of sand in front of Eden Beach Club and El Gato Lounge.
Torremolinos has always been an extremely open-minded town, and one of the most gay-friendly places in Spain. Gay visitors are welcome with open arms here – during the gay festivals, you may even feel like the town has been entirely taken over.
As a whole, Spain is a very tolerant country of homosexuality. In fact, a 2013 study found it to have the highest rate of homosexual acceptance (88%) of all countries polled.
Most gay visitors stay within walking distance to Torremolinos’s iconic gay nightlife in Plaza de la Nogalera. The recommended hotels are all within a short walk to the best gay bars and clubs in Torremolinos as well as the gay popular El Bajondillo beach.
This modern beachfront hotel is located directly on Playa del Bajondillo, a couple of minutes from EDEN Beach Club and a 10-minute walk from the Plaza de la Nogalera gay area. It features relaxing rooms with contemporary minimalist decor and extra comfy beds. All of the rooms are quite spacious, the suites especially so – with the added bonus of gorgeous Mediterranean views and a roomy terrace. The rooftop pool is the hotel’s centerpiece, with fabulous 360 degree views and a chilled-out adults-only vibe. There is also a second outdoor pool, a Thalasso spa, and a very good modern gym. The Level, Meliá’s exclusive club, gives you access to the private The Level Terrace by the rooftop pool, with the best sunbeds directly facing the ocean, as well as plenty of other daily perks like drinks and snacks.
This welcoming guesthouse is located about 5 minutes from both EDEN Beach Club and the Plaza de la Nogalera gay bars. Rooms are decorated in a simple minimalist style, with great beds and cozy Andalucian touches like blue tile walls. The budget single room offers exceptionally good value and comfort for solo travellers, while the apartments are great for groups, with spacious layouts and fully-equipped kitchens (including a washing machine). The larger 4-person apartment also boasts a spacious terrace. The downstairs bar-reference is a great spot for an authentic, good-value Spanish meal.
El Pozo is a family-run, boutique-style hotel located right in the heart of Torremolinos’ gay area: almost all of the local gay bars can be reached in a couple of minutes. Rooms are modern and extremely comfortable, and come in Single, Double, and Triple sizes. The suites are a fantastic option for groups, especially the larger 6-person suite, which comes complete with a spacious terrace with a jacuzzi, sun loungers, and an outdoor shower. It also has a well-equipped kitchenette, as does the four-person suite. The hotel has a 24h bar and a patio.
This is a good-value option, located a little distance away from the main center. The gay beach is a 15-minute walk away, and it’s 10 minutes to the Plaza de la Nogalera gay area. Rooms are simple but comfortable, modern, and spotless. It’s a great option for groups, since you can book rooms for up to 7 guests (made up of a combination of single and bunk beds). All rooms have a private terrace. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub, and there are plenty of beachside bars and restaurants very close by.
AluaSun Flamingo (previously called Roc Hotel Flamingo) is located closer to town than the beach, under 5 minutes from the main gay area. Don’t worry though: EDEN Beach Club and the gay beach area is only 20 minutes away and there is even a free shuttle bus if you don’t fancy the walk. The hotel has a large outdoor freshwater pool and offers plenty of activities, from yoga to aquagym to Spanish dancing. The rooms are comfortable but on the small side – we recommend booking the Junior Suite for extra room. All rooms have a private furnished terrace.
Gran Cervantes by Blue Sea is located in the center of Torremolinos town, a short walk from the local train station and 5 minutes from the main gay area. It boasts a large outdoor pool with lots of lounger space, as well as a heated indoor pool on the rooftop with sea views. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable, with large floor-to-ceiling windows and private baconies. Single, double, and triple rooms are available. There is a bar on the rooftop overlooking the sea, and evening entertainment most nights. Overall, a classic all-inclusive hotel offering good value.
Sol Don Pedro, along with Sol Don Pablo and Sol Don Marco, is part of the Torremolinos Sol Resort by Meliá. This is a classic, all-inclusive Spanish seaside resort, which also means it’s pretty family-friendly – however, there is still plenty to keep the adults interested. The resort as a whole has 9 swimming pools (including 2 adults-only outdoor pools at the Sol Don Pedro) and a range of cool bars and restaurants. There are often shows and entertainment at night, and a range of activities available. Rooms are on the whole modern and comfortable, but slightly more dated than those at the Sol Don Pablo – we recommend the XTRA Sol Junior Suite Vista Mar for its large rooftop terrace and sea views. The Torremolinos Sol Resort is located right on El Bajondillo beach, about a 10-minute walk to both the gay bars in town and EDEN Beach Club.
Sol Don Pablo, along with Sol Don Pedro (below) and Sol Don Marco, is part of the Torremolinos Sol Resort by Meliá. This is a classic, all-inclusive Spanish seaside resort, which also means it is pretty family-friendly – however, there is still plenty to keep the adults interested. Guests at the Don Pablo have a whopping 9 swimming pools to choose from, including hydromassage, adults-only, and sea view options. Plus, there is nighttime entertainment, daily sports activities (including watersports), a range of bars and restaurants, and a gym. Rooms are spacious and relaxing, with contemporary decor in a blue-and-white palette, and there are some fabulous Sea View rooms available. The Torremolinos Sol Resort is located right on El Bajondillo beach, about a 10-minute walk to both the gay bars in town and EDEN Beach Club.
MS Aguamarina Suites offers a range of spacious, comfortable suites to help you feel at home in Torremolinos. There is a spacious outdoor pool and sundeck facing the promenade, as well as an indoor pool at the stylish modern spa and a rooftop hot tub with views. The hotel is a few short steps from El Bajondillo beach, just over 10 minutes from EDEN Beach Club and from the main gay area in town.
This adults-only gay-friendly hotel in Torremolinos has a great location, close to both the beach and the town. The Plaza de la Nogalera gay area is only a 5 minutes from the hotel and there’s a lift with direct access to Bajondillo beach – a short 15-minute walk along the sand will get you to EDEN Beach Club. Fenix Torremolinos boasts top-notch facilities, including a spacious and pleasant outdoor pool area – open year-round and acclimatised in the winter-, a spa, a small but well-equipped gym, and a rooftop hot tub with views. The rooms have a romantic, intimate vibe to them, with vintage-inspired decor and spacious modern bathrooms. The hotel restaurant has lovely sea views, and there is also a cozy bar-cafe and a cool rooftop Chill-out bar.
