Ibiza town is the main nightlife hub on the island and Figueretes, a stylish resort in the suburbs, is home to the closest large beach. Most guys to Ibiza stay in one of these areas, or in the Dalt Villa old town. It’s about a half-hour walk or a 15-minute taxi between Figueretes beach and Calle de la Virgen (also known locally as Carrer de la Mare de Deu), the main gay street in Ibiza town. Choose between beach or town vibes for your stay, or meet in the middle with something near the center of Ibiza town.
Sant Antoni, on the western coast of the island, is a lively resort town with great nightlife, fabulous sunsets, and a wide range of water sports and adventure activities. There are no gay bars or clubs in Sant Antoni, but there are two popular gay Ibiza hotels, which makes it exceptionally easy to meet fellow gays. Plus, the lively nightlife is incredibly gay-friendly.
All of the hotels on this list are popular with gay visitors and most have outdoor swimming pools. There are stylish designer hotels and five-star suites for luxury lovers, cozy apartments and residences for those who like to feel at home, and friendly simple stays for budget travelers who haven’t come all this way to stay in their hotel room.
As a world capital of party culture with an ever-growing gay scene, Ibiza is about as gay-friendly as you can get. Gay visitors are welcome throughout the island, and you’ll find increasingly more spaces labeling themselves as “hetero-friendly”.
As a whole, Spain is a very tolerant country of homosexuality. In fact, a 2013 study found it to have the highest rate of homosexual acceptance (88%) of all countries polled.
Most of the island’s gay nightlife is located in Ibiza town. Most gay visitors book hotels near Ibiza town and neighboring Platja de ses Figueretes (Figueretas beach) for this reason.
In Sant Antoni there are two exclusive gay hotels. Sant Antoni sits 20 minutes drive from Ibiza town and is a second lively resort town with great (non-gay) nightlife. Ibiza is a large island, so hopping in a taxi between the gay hotels in Sant Antoni and the main gay nightlife in Ibiza town can get expensive and difficult. If you are keen on both experiences, we suggest booking a few nights in each area to allow you to really make the most of gay Ibiza.
Hotel Ryans La Marina is located on the seafront right by Ibiza port, making it super convenient for boat day trips and booze cruises. Even more conveniently more gay travelers, the gay nightlife in Calle de la Virgen is just a 5-minute walk away. Rooms feature fun contemporary design, blending all-white minimalism with bold colorful murals and art. The Premium rooms are slightly larger – we especially recommend the Premium Penthouse Suite with its large rooftop terrace overlooking the sea. There’s a friendly gastropub with an outdoor terrace serving drinks and tapas and a sports bar with 8 large screens. Hotel Ryans La Marina is the most booked budget gay-friendly hotel in Ibiza.
AxelBeach Ibiza is part of the iconic Axel hotel chain, the world’s largest gay hotel brand. Axel hotels pride themselves on being “hetero-friendly”, which means that while the vibe is definitely gay, everyone is welcome. In this Ibiza gay hotel in particular, the crowd is more mixed than in some of the other Axel hotels across Europe. The hotel is located right by the gorgeous Sant Antoni bay and its large beach, making for some exceptional views from many of the rooms. The accommodation is made up of spacious suites and apartments, all with modern decor and balconies. Each sleeps between four and eight people. The Sky Bar has a fabulous pool overlooking the sea (and a 2×1 happy hour every evening), becoming a lively gay meeting spot at night. The hotel also boasts a trendy Asian-Latin fusion restaurant and a beautiful glass-fronted spa.
THB Los Molinos has a fantastic beachfront location on the southern edge of Ibiza town, a short 10-minute walk to trendy Figueretes beach. Meanwhile, Calle de la Virgen is a 20-minute walk or 10-minute taxi away. This adults-only hotel has minimalist modern decor and comfortable, well-designed rooms – we especially recommend the balcony sea view rooms. There is a large swimming pool facing the sea with direct access to a small, secluded beach if you don’t fancy the walk to Figueretes. THB Los Molinos also has very good fitness and wellness facilities, including a bright, well-equipped gym and a wellness area with indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. THB Los Molinos is one of the most booked gay-friendly hotels in Ibiza.
This hotel offers good value in a fabulous beachfront location on the Figueretes promenade. Rooms are no-frills and have slightly dated decor, but are spacious and comfortable. All have balconies, so it’s worth booking a sea view room if you can. There is an outdoor pool facing the sea with plenty of loungers, and a very well-equipped gym with cardio and weights equipment. Ibiza Playa is one of the most booked gay-friendly hotels in Ibiza.
The Purple Hotel is the only gay-only hotel in Ibiza, making it a perfect choice if you want to fully surround yourself with hot gay guys while in Sant Antoni. It features fun and colorful design with a contemporary minimalist feel. All the rooms are exceptionally comfortable and well-designed, even the simple “Essential” rooms. The City and Pool View rooms add more space and a terrace, while the Premium Room and Suite have the especially sexy addition of a glass shower in the middle of the room. The outdoor pool is lovely and chilled-out, with a small pool bar and selection of pool snacks. The Purple Room is in the center of Sant Antoni town, about a 10-minute walk to the beach.
Ryans Ibiza Apartments offers trendy accommodation with a fun party atmosphere. All the apartments feature stylish contemporary design with colorful kitchens and spacious living areas. Apartments come in several sizes, the smallest sleeping four people and the largest eight, making it an awesome choice for groups of friends on the island to party. The outdoor pool area is the social hub of the hotel, with a chill vibe during the day and DJs spinning tracks at night. There is also a lively bar, a jacuzzi, and a rooftop terrace. Figueretes beach is only 50m from the hotel, and Den Bossa beach is about a 15-minute walk away.
This chic boutique hotel features unique art-deco-inspired decor, with elegant rooms and luxe furnishings. The rooms are on the compact side, but are extremely comfortable – the beds, in particular, are heavenly. Look out for the rooms with views or balconies for that extra Ibiza touch. Both the bar and the restaurant are stylish and excellent, and the outdoor swimming pool is large and – thanks to the adults-only nature of the hotel – very relaxing. There is also a first-rate spa – book a treatment to get access to the private wood-panelled wellness area. Hotel MiM Ibiza Es Vive is located on the Figueretes promenade, a short walk to Figueretes beach.
Apartamentos Lido offers simple, no-frills accommodation right on Figueretes beach. The spacious apartments have basic decor and furnishings, with kitchenettes and private balconies, most of which have sea views. Everything is extremely comfortable and impeccably clean. There is a large outdoor pool and a bar, and it’s only a few steps to the beach.
Located directly across from Figueretes beach, Apartamentos Llobet offers modern, stylish apartments a stone’s throw from the sand and sea. At 50m2 for two adults, the apartments are spacious and extremely comfortable, with well-equipped kitchenettes and balconies. You can choose between garden view or sea view – the latter also overlooks the old city walls. There is a large shared outdoor pool, a well-equipped gym, and a lovely rooftop terrace with sea views. Chaos, a popular LGBT hangout, is just a three-minute walk away.
Apartamento Mar y Playa are based in the same complex as Hotel Ibiza Playa, offering more space at at-home comforts. Both studios and 1-bedroom apartments are on offer, both with well-equipped kitchenettes and balconies (most balconies have sea views). The decor is simple yet modern and everything is extremely comfortable. There is an outdoor pool facing the sea and a great gym with a range of cardio and weights equipment. The apartments are located right on the Figueretes promenade, a stone’s throw from the beach. Chaos, a popular LGBT hangout, is just a three-minute walk away.
