Most of Hong Kong’s gay nightlife takes place on Friday and Saturday nights. Hong Kong’s gay scene is slightly limited compared to other capitals across Asia, especially gay Bangkok or gay Taiwan.
While the gay scene in Hong Kong has lost some of its biggest and most established names, new gay nights and new venues are always popping up. Propaganda, Gay Hong Kong’s biggest nightclub for over 25 years closed permanently in February 2016.
Gay Hong Kong’s nightlife is mainly located in Hong Kong Island in Soho (South of Hollywood Road, HK Island) and LKF (Lan Kwai Fong, HK Island). Soho and LKF are separate areas but are within easy walking distance from each other, just a 10-minute walk between them.
Zoo Bar is one of Hong Kong’s most popular gay bars and dance clubs, located on Jervois Street, Sheung Wan District, Hong Kong’s gayborhood. Expect weekend crowds to spill outside and on the pavement. This is the place to go on a Friday and Saturday night while weeknights are much quieter. This can be said for most of Hong Kong’s nightlife.

Petticoat Lane Hong Kong was one of HK’s hottest gay clubs however the venue closed (Aug 2021) and the team are currently planning a new venue.
But WednesGay’s are still on, this time at Peak Cafe Bar, Shelley St, Central. Spend the night with resident and international DJs, free vodka after 10 pm to midnight.
Hong Kong’s most stylish & cozy gay bar, Time Bar is located on Hollywood Road, Hong Kong island. The bar is small and narrow but has a sleek interior, somewhat reminiscent of a stylish wine & cocktail bar. This is the perfect bar if you are looking for somewhere more intimate to chat to your Grindr date before heading to the party.
Time Bar is located about 10 minutes walk from Hong Kong’s main gay bar street.“enter from the back of the building” Being tucked away gives Time Bar a sense of privacy and intimacy. Nearby popular gay bars and dance clubs are Zoo Bar and Petticoat Lane.
