Situated right on Hua Hin Beach, surrounded by other big-name resorts, even though it’s an absolute beachfront resort, it still feels like a private sanctuary. It’s only a couple of minutes walk from your room to the main road, where cafés and shops abound. When evening hits, it’s only a 20-minute walk to the night markets.

For food, Lido is Hua Hin’s favorite all-day Italian restaurant. The menu is seasonal and based on locally sourced ingredients. Alternatively, overlook the Andaman Sea from a Heritage House backdrop at Praça and enjoy Thai Izakaya-style dining every evening from 5 pm.

With 199 rooms, suites, and villas, you’re spoilt for choice. The Standard’s unique rooms deliver comfortable beds topped with fancy sheets; you won’t want to get out of it once you’re all tucked in. Every room has a plushy seating area and either, a rain shower or a soaking tub in the bathroom. Our pick of the rooms has to be the private pool villa. It’s 112 sqm, and you get a king-size bed, a lounge area with a daybed, a rain shower, and, of course, that plunge pool.

The Standard Hua Hin shines with a beautiful, retro old-school design and an exceptional location that gives you direct access to the sand. The food at Praca is outstanding and a major highlight of the stay. The property has a highly energetic, popular vibe that attracts lots of guests and families, but the sprawling layout allows you to easily find a comfortable spot to dip in the pool or relax by the water in your own comfort.

I personally feel this resort is highly gay-friendly and inclusive. Everyone is entirely focused on enjoying their own vacations, so nobody is going to bother you. It is a safe and beautifully designed space to just chill, relax, and enjoy the beachfront at your own pace.
