Gay Saunas Seoul

Seoul’s gay sauna scene is compact, but the crowd split is very real.

  • Top picks: Prince Sauna Seoul, Mun Hwa Sauna Seoul
  • Younger crowd: Prince Sauna (strict fit and young men policy)
  • Mature crowd: Mun Hwa Sauna (popular with older Korean men)
  • Best time: weekend evenings for more energy
  • Note: It is commonplace for gay saunas in Seoul to restrict access based on age, race, fitness and general ‘hotness’.

Seoul makes it easy to choose your vibe. If you’re looking for a younger, fitness-forward crowd, Prince Sauna Seoul is the defining option. If you’re into a more mature scene, Mun Hwa Sauna Seoul is the classic pick, with weekend energy and a loyal following.

Same-sex activity is legal in South Korea for civilians, but LGBTQ travelers can still face social stigma. If you are doing mandatory military service, be aware the military penal code can criminalize same-sex acts between service members. For visitors, the practical safety play is discretion, choosing established venues, and avoiding anything that feels risky.

Most are open 24 hours most saunas are busy from early evening until the small hours. Similar to nightlife, most of Seoul’s gay saunas don’t get busy until late, around 2-3 am, when the guys start to leave the clubs. Weekend evenings are the most reliable for a busier vibe, especially at Mun Hwa Sauna. If you want more movement and less awkwardness, go later rather than earlier.

Seoul gay saunas are not designed as overnight accommodation. Some venues have private areas, but you’ll be far more comfortable booking a nearby hotel base: Best gay-friendly hotels in Seoul.

Exotic adventure
My exotic adventure at the local sauna: First, you pay 20,000 — and if you’re a foreigner, congratulations, you probably just paid more than everyone else. Once that’s done, you take off your shoes and put them in a locker, then head into a changing room that clearly hasn’t been touched since the 80s — not a single modern touch in sight. Then, the real journey begins. One hallway to...

Save your money
Went in and was immediately unimpressed by the layout. The sauna/showers were filthy and smelt like mildew. Skipped the showers and went up to the sleeping room. It was extremely dark, waited a bit for my eyes to adjust and I still couldn’t see anything. There was a couple having sex in the corner and some floating bodies watching/listening. I got what I needed and left immediately. Crowd is extremely...

Not too shabby
I came at a really bad time and missed a lot of action since I saw a bunch of fresh unwrapped condoms on the floor. The layout is a bit confusing since the cubbie (dark) rooms are on another floor OUTSIDE of the entrance of the establishment. The shower area was extremely small, literally a small room with a group circular shower station but I think if it was busy...
