The Palace Hotel first opened in San Francisco in 1875 and was the largest luxury hotel in the world at the time. Renovated in 1909, 1989, and more recently in 2015, it’s still one of the most luxurious properties in the city.
Located in the historic Union Square, it’s a 2-minute walk to the subway station, which is a short five stops from the Castro gayborhood.
It’s not easy to find a hotel with a pool in San Francisco, but the Palace Hotel has an indoor one with views of the city skyline. The 24-hour fitness center is on the same level.
The Pied Piper and the Garden Court Restaurant are two of San Francisco's most iconic dining establishments. The Italian dome over the Garden Court is 110 years old.
The rooms are also luxurious, complete with oak doors and brass doorknobs, original fittings from the 1909 renovation. The 11 ft ceilings make the rooms feel enormous.
