The People (previously called Les Piaules) is a top-ranking hostel in Paris, offering high-quality dorms and privates for budget travelers. Dorm rooms come in 4, 6, and 8-person sizes, which means you could easily book a full one if you were traveling with friends. Meanwhile, the private rooms at this hostel are more spacious and comfortable than many in regular hotels across Paris.
The hostel has designed their very own “Le Plumard” bunk beds, which feature everything you could want in a compact and practical design. All dorm rooms feature super-comfy beds, fun and bright decor, personal power outlets and reading lights, and super-fast WiFi. If you go for the private room, you will also get a private bathroom, Bluetooth speakers, and a capsule coffee machine.
The hostel has a nice bar and cafe where you can mingle with other travelers. The prices are very reasonable, making this a great spot to start the night with a few drinks and a quick bite of food. As is usually the case with a good hostel, the staff is super cool and friendly.
The People is located in the Belleville area and happens to be close to a few gay nightlife hotspots. La Java, which hosts the popular dance party Le Trou Au Biches, is less than 10 minutes away, and Apollo Theatre, which hosts several regular gay parties, is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. BUNKER, a popular fetish cruise club, is also very close by.
There are good metro links for reaching other areas of the city, and the hostel is walking distance to the world-famous Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
