Hotel Elixir is a relatively new hotel that was refurbished in 2013. It has a sleek and modern style, despite being housed in a traditional Parisian building. In fact, the hotel makes the most of this, highlighting traditional elements like the 16th-century vaulted ceiling in the basement breakfast room.
The 30 rooms are all artfully decorated in a contemporary style, with plenty of slate grey and Scandi-style minimalist design. There is a single room that is perfect for solo travelers, as well as a roomy quadruple suite for larger groups. There is also the option of booking a set of connecting rooms.
The best thing about Hotel Elixir, however, is the location. The hotel is only a block away from the Seine riverbank, a 10-minute walk to the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and the Marais gay area. Chatelet, the largest metro station in the world, is basically on Hotel Elixir’s doorstep, and it connects to anywhere you would want to go in the city and beyond (including the airports, Versailles, and Disneyland Paris).
In terms of gay nightlife, long-standing Paris favorite Banana Cafe is just five minutes away, as are various other great choices like The LABO, SLY Bar, Bear’s Den, and Au Mange-Disque.
