Hostal Pizarro is located in Madrid’s Malasaña neighborhood, famous for its up-and-coming hipster vibe and for being an extension of Chueca’s gay offerings. Despite not being an official gay Madrid hotel, it specializes in gay-friendly service and the staff are always happy to help you with all things gay Madrid. There are two gay saunas under five minutes away, Sauna Principe and Sauna Adan.
The hotel itself is nothing fancy. In the usual style of Spanish hostales, there are a few communal areas in which you can meet fellow travelers and chat, and the rooms are standard for a budget hotel. Everything is super clean and very comfortable, perfect if you aren’t fussy about luxury amenities and trendy design.
There only 14 rooms and apartments are available for larger groups, which can house four to six people. Opt for one with garden views as these are more pleasant than the interior apartments, which have no windows.
