Corinthia Hotel Budapest opened in the 19th century as the Grand Hotel Royal, often noted as one of the inspirations for Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel.
The rooms are decorated in an elegant and traditional style and are all very spacious and comfortable. Go for the Executive category or one of the gorgeous suites for extra perks like a Nespresso coffee machine and complimentary access to the Royal Spa and Club Executive lounge.
The gay-friendly hotel features a traditional Brasserie, a traditional pan-Asian restaurant, a Hungarian-Spanish fusion bistro, and a high-end Maltese restaurant. As well as the lobby bar, guests at the Corinthian have direct lobby access to the Orfeum club, a swanky jazz and swing music venue.
The marvelous indoor pool from 1886 is without a doubt one of the hotel’s highlights, offering perhaps the classiest swim of your life. It is the centerpiece of the large (and recently renovated) Royal Spa, which also offer saunas, steam rooms, treatments, and a gym. The latter is small but high-quality, with a good selection of equipment for all your workout needs.
Corinthia Hotel Budapest is located where District VI meets District VII, which is an excellent position for enjoying the city’s best nightlife. Several great gay venues are nearby, with Oops @ Anker’t, AlterEGO, and Coxx all about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
