As Silom Soi 4 is winding down this is the place to be. Silom Soi 2 is a small alleyway home to an array of gay clubs and the Bangkok most famous gay club DJ Station. Busy every night of the week but most of all at weekends Silom Soi 2 has free entry expect from DJ Station where it is 150 baht on weekdays with 1 free drink and 300 at weekends with 2 free drinks.
The entrance to the alleyway has a free bag check desk which has a very reliable track record following this there is a security and ID check. Photo ID is required to prove you are over 20, and the guards are especially strict if you are Asian. This cluster of bars is one company with a set 150 baht for most drinks and cocktails, you can walk freely between the bars with your drinks in hand.
At the back of the street is DJ Station, Bangkok’s most famous gay club. With 3 floors of fun, the club still manages to become packed to a busting point on weekends.11.30 things start to kick off with the nightly drag show. 30 minutes of your classic drag ballads with Whitney, Maria, and Celine making regular appearances on the playlist as well as some Thai and international pop songs. Once the show is over dancing begins and it starts getting lively.
Music: Silom Soi 2 plays the hottest mainstream international pop. Some of the bars play the occasional Thai pop song but most are pure international pop.
Crowd: Being home to Thailand’s most international gay club the crowd is a mix of trendy Thais, Asian, and Western tourists.
Drinks: Silom Soi 2 is good value, entry is free for the street only DJ Station charges entry which is 150 baht on weekdays with one free drink and 300 baht at weekends which includes two drink vouchers and after that, all drinks are 150 baht. Be careful, the bars don’t use the highest quality spirits and you may end up with a nasty hangover the following day.
Dress: Short and tank tops are fine but flip flops (thongs) are not allowed. Most of the local Thais are dressed to impress.
Silom Soi 2 is located at the start of Silom Road in the Silom District of Bangkok. It is located between McDonald’s at the beginning of Silom Road and just before Burger King.
Taxi: Many taxi drivers know of Silom Soi 2, (pronounced See Lom Soy Two).
