Gay Hotel Cancun

15 Best Gay-Friendly Hotels in Cancun

While hotels are spread across Cancun, the dedicated hotel zone is the place to be. It’s a long, narrow strip of land that runs along the Caribbean Sea, approximately 22 kilometers (13.7 miles) long. It is between the Nichupté Lagoon and the coastline, providing easy access to beautiful beaches.

There’s a lot to see and do in the hotel zone, and it’s the most visited part of Cancun; affordable buses frequently run along the main strip, connecting visitors to various attractions, making it super-easy to get around.

Most of the resorts in the hotel zone are all-inclusive, which covers all meals and drinks, including top-shelf spirits. Every property has multiple food and beverage outlets offering various cuisines.

Pools are pretty common among gay-friendly hotels in Cancun. Most properties have more than one, and some even have adults-only ones. Swim-up bars are also commonplace in Cancun.

Gay favorites Hyatt, Hilton, and Westin are in the hotel zone, as are many local properties.

More

While there are no official gay-owned and operated resorts in Cancun, like all of Mexico, the pink dollar is very welcome. Hospitality worldwide tends to attract gay staff, so feel free to chat up your barman at your resort. You never know; he might be like-minded. You’ll be welcomed no matter where you go, and you’ll feel safe and free to express yourself.

Unlike its sister city of Puerto Vallarta, which is gay party central, Cancun doesn’t have a specific gayborhood. There are three gay bars, Laser Hot and 11:11, in the main entertainment zone in Central Cancun; there’s one hotel, Stay Tropical, one kilometer south of these bars. Don’t let the fact that there aren’t many gay bars stop you from going out. The current generation of Mexican men identify as sexually fluid; you may meet your next husband at any of the leading entertainment venues throughout Cancun.

If you’re staying in one of the hotels in the hotel zone, head to Delfines Beach and get an Instagram shot of the iconic Cancun sign. For history buffs, the Mayan Museum of Cancun is near the hotel zone. Step back in time and learn about the region. At night, visit Forum Beach. It’s located near many bars and clubs and is perfect for combining beach time with nightlife.

One of the most visited sites in the region is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Chichen Itza, an ancient Mayan city known for its iconic pyramid, El Castillo. It’s a bit of a hike, 120 km away, but your hotel can book you a day tour. If you’re in Cancun for a few days, this is a must-see.
