There are three hotel zones in Puerto Vallarta. There are loads of properties in the Zona Romantica gayborhood; however, the luxury properties are located in either of the Zona Hotelera’s (Hotel Zones). There’s one 5 km to the north of the gayborhood and another 5 km south.
Gay hotel Puerto Vallarta options in the gayborhood are either on the hillside overlooking the beach or right in the center near ‘party street’ Lazaro Cardenas. This hub has a few beachfront ones, one gay-exclusive and another exceptionally gay-friendly.
The other resorts in the hotel zones benefit from having loads of space to spread out. They offer absolute beachfront accommodation, with bars, restaurants, and beach clubs available. These resorts suit gay travelers who want a luxury stay without being right in the center of the action but close enough to head out when it suits them.
Almost every gay hotel in Puerto Vallarta has a pool, many of them rooftop, and swim-up bars are standard. Unlike many USA hotels, pets aren’t as welcome in Puerto Vallarta; however, seven properties are on our list where they’re as welcome as yours.

Zona Romantica is considered the gayborhood of Puerto Vallarta. Cuale Island (home of nature walks and artisan markets) borders it to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the West, Santa Barbara Street to the south, and Insurgentes Street to the west. In the heart is party street Lazaro Cardenas, where most gay bars are. Speaking of which, there are 36 venues in the gayborhood alone.
Within Zona Romantica are two places that deserve their own mention. Amapas district is at the very north and is where other gay venues and adults-only properties are. The other is Los Muertos Beach at the southern end of the gayborhood. Mantamar Beach Club and Blue Chairs Resorts are on the beach and have dance parties and other gay events.
El Centro (central), just to the north of the gayborhood, is the CBD of Puerto Vallarta; there’s one gay bar there and a few restaurants that cater primarily to gay clientele. The iconic Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is in this hub.
