11 Best Gay Hotels in Torremolinos

Most Torremolinos Hotels follow the well-known blueprint for Spanish coastal resorts: big, blocky white buildings with outdoor pools, daytime activities, and nighttime entertainment. This means you have to look for the details that set certain hotels apart, like a great selection of pools, a fabulous beachside location, or adults-only access (this is, after all, a region popular with families with small children). There are options for every price range, and many resorts have all-inclusive packages. If you want something more authentic and low-key, Torremolinos also has its share of friendly family-run hotels.

The main gay area in Torremolinos is Plaza de la Nogalera in the town center – a tightly packed collection of gay bars, clubs, and cruise bars to rival any gayborhood in the world. However, during the day, you’ll find most of the gays at El Bajondillo beach, in particular the stretch of sand in front of Eden Beach Club and El Gato Lounge.

Torremolinos has always been an extremely open-minded town, and one of the most gay-friendly places in Spain. Gay visitors are welcome with open arms here – during the gay festivals, you may even feel like the town has been entirely taken over.

As a whole, Spain is a very tolerant country of homosexuality. In fact, a 2013 study found it to have the highest rate of homosexual acceptance (88%) of all countries polled.

Most gay visitors stay within walking distance to Torremolinos’s iconic gay nightlife in Plaza de la Nogalera. The recommended hotels are all within a short walk to the best gay bars and clubs in Torremolinos as well as the gay popular El Bajondillo beach.

Sol Don Pedro, along with Sol Don Pablo and Sol Don Marco, is part of the Torremolinos Sol Resort by Meliá. This is a classic, all-inclusive Spanish seaside resort, which also means it’s pretty family-friendly – however, there is still plenty to keep the adults interested. The resort as a whole has 9 swimming pools (including 2 adults-only outdoor pools at the Sol Don Pedro) and a range of cool bars and restaurants. There are often shows and entertainment at night, and a range of activities available. Rooms are on the whole modern and comfortable, but slightly more dated than those at the Sol Don Pablo – we recommend the XTRA Sol Junior Suite Vista Mar for its large rooftop terrace and sea views. The Torremolinos Sol Resort is located right on El Bajondillo beach, about a 10-minute walk to both the gay bars in town and EDEN Beach Club.
