Dubai is internationally renowned as a luxury travel destination, meaning that the four and five-star hotels here are among some of the best in the world. For many, a stay in a luxury hotel with Insta-worthy views of the skyline is simply an essential part of the Dubai experience. However, these stays can be very pricey, so for those wishing to save some money, there are some amazing mid-range and budget options available, including stylish apartments and cool hostels.
Hotels in Dubai vary in their attitudes towards LGBTQ+ travelers, but there are some hotels that are known to be more welcoming and inclusive. Broadly speaking, these tend to be the larger international chains as well as most 4 and 5-star hotels – in some ways, you are paying a premium for discretion. It is always worth remembering that homosexuality is illegal and not to push your luck with displays of affection in public areas, even when staying at a gay-friendly hotel.
Hotels often place gay couples in twin rooms: after all, two men sharing a bed is against the law. If you book a double online ahead of time, they will often not question it, but sometimes they will change it to a twin upon your arrival. This can be frustrating, but it’s best to just take the room that is offered.
