Gay Koh Samui
Gay Koh Samui is relativity quiet island, is not the party destination like Phuket, Pattaya or Samet. Gay Koh Samui is more laid back and relaxed, there are only a couple gay bars and clubs which are more ‘low key’. Gay Koh Samui is a great island to enjoy tropical paradise, amazing beaches and luxury hotels but not a wild gay party scene.
The island of Koh Samui is the definition of a tropical paradise, famed for white sandy beaches lined with palm trees, set between jungle covered mountains and the crisp blue ocean.
Life on the island is spread around the edges with the busiest area surrounding Cheaweng beach. This is the largest town on Koh Samui which spread up around one of the islands most beautiful beaches. Cheaweng has the largest choice of hotels, nightlife, restaurants and shops which suit all budgets and tastes. All of the limited Gay Samui attractions, the few gay bars and clubs, are located around Cheaweng beach.

Koh Samui has its own rather cute and beautiful airport with flower beds lining the runway and thatched roof in the luggage hall. The airport is owned and run by Bangkok Airways. This has resulted in Bangkok Airways and only few selected airlines flying direct to the airport. Tickets get booked early and can become pricey.
Travelers looking for the cheapest deal can fly to the main land at Surat Thani and then travel and bus and boat to reach the island. Flights to Surat Thani can be very cheap with budget airlines such as AirAsia and NokAir however the overall journey time is much longer. The average time from Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport to the island is around 5 hours. Important note: Bangkok has two airports Don Muang Airport is the 2nd smaller, older airport, most international flights arrive into the new, larger airport Suvarnabhumi Airport. When booking connecting flights always check which airport you are flying from.
If you are looking for the true backing packing experience consider taking the sleeper train from Bangkok to Surat Thani and then bus and boat to the island. Joint tickets are available easily from any hostel or travel agency in Bangkok, especially on Khao San Road.
Night buses are also available but the train is recommended for a more authentic experience.
